Q. The advantages of English as an international language will continue to outweigh the disadvantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

As part of globalization, English has become the most widely spoken language in the world. While there are many benefits to using English as an international language, it also has some negative consequences.

To commence with, one of the main advantages of having a single global language is that it will narrow the gap between countries since there is no communication barrier. This helps to strengthen relations between peoples. As a result, international trade operations, such as imports and exports of goods, will increase and contribute to the growth of economies around the world. In addition, English helps people travel the world without any difficulties. Many tourists find it difficult to communicate with indigenous people about their simple needs such as asking for directions, ordering food, etc. These problems will be solved if there is only one language.

On the other hand, this trend has many disadvantages. Language is part of every culture. If everyone spoke the same language, the other local languages would gradually disappear. Then there would be no cultural diversity. One of the main reasons tourists are attracted to other countries is their cultural differences. If everyone has the same culture, there is no point in visiting other places. So this trend could have a negative impact on the tourism industry.

In conclusion, while a single global language has some disadvantages, it brings many benefits, such as the growth of international business and the economy. In my opinion, the advantages of having a single global language far outweigh its disadvantages.
