Q. It is difficult for people to live in cities to get enough exercise. What are the reasons and what solutions can be taken to solve the problem?

It is true these days that people in urban centers do not exercise properly. This unhealthy development is due to several reasons. Fortunately, there are several solutions.

To begin with, there are various reasons why people in cities do not exercise enough. The first reason is that there are not many designated training areas in cities. This is due to the fact that cities are currently overcrowded and do not have enough land to accommodate the growing number of people who migrate to them. For example, in 2008, the Government of the Sudan began construction of new apartment buildings in public spaces that were previously used as training grounds. As a result, people now find it difficult to find places where they could play sports.

Moreover, people living in cities are more busy now than in the past. They work very hard to earn their living and their families. In other words, the lack of space and time are the main reasons why citizens do not get enough exercise.

Fortunately, there are many ways to deal with this issue. First of all, the government should provide free premises where people can play sports. This will definitely encourage more people to become physically active. The government also needs to educate the importance of staying physically active. They can use respected community leaders to communicate the message that regular exercise improves health and longevity.

To sum up, it is clear that the lack of public spaces and the busy lifestyle of city dwellers are the reasons why they do not get enough exercise. However, building a gym and educating people about the importance of exercise can solve this problem.
