Q. Some people think it is important to plant more trees in the vacant areas of cities and town, while others says that housing facilities should be built instead. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Q. Some people say that trees should be planted in the vacant areas of cities and towns, while others say that housing facilities should be built instead. To what extent do you agree or disagree? 

According to some people, trees should be planted in unoccupied areas in large cities. Others argue that it is more important to build residential complexes here. In my opinion, planting trees in wastelands of cities is more important than building houses there.

Planting trees makes your surroundings cleaner and healthier. If empty areas are forested, it adds greenery and scenic beauty to the place. These places will attract small birds and butterflies, which in turn create a tranquil ecosystem on their own. In addition, trees add oxygen to the atmosphere through photosynthesis and thus improve air quality. Breathing in this fresh, unpolluted air will improve the health of the residents. In general, planting more trees keeps the environment clean and natural.

On the other hand, the construction of residential buildings in all vacant regions will cause congestion. Converting every available land into living space will result in a concrete jungle. There will be nowhere to plant trees, and this will harm the purity of the air. In many cities, such as Hong Kong, residents are suffering from overcrowding and more and more people are moving to the suburbs. Therefore, pouring metal and concrete into all of the empty spaces is a bad decision.

In conclusion, I believe that all vacant areas should be used for afforestation. This will help enrich the area with clean air and oxygen, which in turn will help people to lead healthy lives.
