IELTS Exam, Writing Task 2, Evening Slot, 30 January 2021, INDIA

Q. Some people believe that in school, children should be taught to recycle materials and avoid waste. Other people think that this should be taught to children at home. Discuss both views and give your own opinion?

In recent years, it has become very important to recycle things such as plastic or glass and reduction in the waste material by teaching the teenagers . However, this is a highly debated topic. Some believe that it should be taught in schools, while others believe that it could be more effective if learn at home by guardians. This essay will explore both points of view further. I strongly believe that children should know and learn about this in the institution. 

On the one hand, some group of people agrees that, like other lessons, the value of recycled materials and rubbish should be taught at home. In light of the fact that a child always first learns something at home and not elsewhere. For example, one study by the World Health Organization in 2002 found that babies adopt habits such as eating, drinking, walking, talking etc. From their guardians and caretaker while spending time with them. Therefore, they argue that home is a good place to learn about recycling things and how to use waste.

On the other hand, I would stand by the former point of view that an institution is a more effective place for aware children to understand the reuse habits of things. Firstly, it is the well-established fact that, children more listen to their teachers to parents. Secondly, they can learn from other peers by watching them. Last but not least, if schools provide education through practical examples, then youngster can retain information for a longer period of time. To illustrate, a recent European study shows that learning at school is far more influential than at home.

In conclusion, people's opinions may differ. I strongly believe that learning about waste reduction and recycling for children in schools is a more efficient way to home.
