Q. Many people think that countries should produce food for all population eats and import food as little as possible. To what extent do you agree or disagree with statement?

It is generally assumed that the food grown by nations should meet the needs of all their citizens, and imports should be as limited as possible. I completely agree with this point of view, as it will help countries save money and create many opportunities for residents.

One of the biggest benefits of own food production is that it can benefit the government financially. Becoming self-sufficient in food production and minimizing imports makes a country less dependent on others and at the same time benefits local producers. It will also give an advantage in trade decisions with other countries. Moreover, domestically grown food will have lower base prices as it becomes a regular staple in people's diets. For instance, 30 years ago, India was completely dependent on foreign countries for wheat, and then wheat prices were high. However, now the country produces enough wheat for its population, and prices have fallen by 60%. Thus, domestic food production benefits the national economy.

Furthermore, the idea of growing food to meet the needs of the country will create many opportunities for their population to grow. This will create more jobs in the sector and encourage researchers to develop new technologies. For example, the state of Punjab has created 35% more jobs for its residents since becoming the country's leader in wheat production. In addition, the state government was able to allocate more resources to research and development, making wheat more accessible to Indians.

To conclude, the idea of growing food that can meet the needs of the country and reducing imports is fully justified. This will not only make the country financially strong, but will also create more employment opportunities and enhance its technological potential in the long run.
