Q. Some people believe that advertising aimed at children should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Commercialization has recently become an integral part of our daily lives, consciously and unconsciously shaping our shopping routine. A section of the society has often argued that youth-targeted advertising should be banned on TV or other social media. From my point of view, I firmly agree with this stance, since it has numerous detrimental consequences for the child, such as unhealthy eating.

The fundamental frustration associated with advertisements is their tendency to promote impulsive buying behaviour. Children with immature brains are easily attracted to engaging advertisements, such as an unhealthy snack in the shape of their favorite cartoon. Children easily become addicted to this unhealthy food. As a result, erratic eating habits develop at a young age and directly affect their physical and mental development. To illustrate, minors who consume more unhealthy snacks, drinks and fast foods usually face obesity and other health problems in the future.

In addition, another detrimental effect of advertising is the possibility of facing financial crises. Young children usually pester their parents to buy goods advertised on TV and often argue about it. As a result, they fulfill their teenager's every wish, even in the face of financial instability. Therefore, they take loans from other relatives or banks and end up with a decisive crisis, and if the parents are in debt, the child will face the same psychological burden.

To conclude, it is clear that intrusive commercial programs have a negative impact on the habits of the child and the causes of debt in a number of parents.
