Q. In the past people made better use of their time than they do today. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

A few decades ago, the lifestyle of the people has changed. These days looking tired is a common feature among citizens. Some people believe that individuals are managing their time very poorly as compared to the people of the past. I completely disagree with this statement due to the complexity of our present society.

On the one hand, a few decades ago, residents had more free time because they lived in smaller towns. They then had easy access to amenities such as banks, schools, and markets. For instance, workers only drove a few minutes to get to their offices. This benefit no longer exists. Another reason is that there were fewer crimes in those years. Thus, the children were able to safely leave the school without the presence of their parents. During this time, parents can engage in any other activity.

On the other hand, nowadays every person has to do several things at the same time in order to fulfill their responsibilities. As most cities around the world have shown dramatic growth, society has also changed. For example, children can no longer walk from their academic activities. The reason is the increase in crime. As a result, parents are forced to use their lunch time to drop their children at home and eat while driving. Traffic jams are a consumer of other people's time. In addition, health information is now available and more people are realizing the importance of exercise. The development of sports activities is the most important task for the modern population. These are a few more activities to be done than at other times.

In conclusion, having more free time was a big advantage in the past, but is now out of reach due to several activities that have become crucial over the past years. Therefore, I believe that people are more productive than others were before.
