Q. Young people spend too much of their free time in shopping malls. This has a negative effect on young people and society. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement.

Nowadays, young people usually spend most of their leisure time in shopping malls and some people claim that this has a negative impact on them as well as on society. I fully support this point of view.

To commence with, the fact that the young age is the most productive and energetic period of person's life. However, spending time idly in public places such as shopping complexes will reduce their productivity and increase their chances of getting into debts due to unwanted expenses. If young people spend more time in shopping malls, they also lose focus on their studies. Even worse, they may develop the habit of stealing money to buy things. They may even have engaged in drug trafficking or other morally questionable activities to earn money to support their spending habits.

When young people spend too much time in malls, it also does not benefit society. Excessive time spent at the mall leads to wasteful shopping and therefore more waste generated. When young people spend time in malls instead of studying or doing community service, it doesn't bode well for society. Young people are the future of the nation, and instead of wasting time on trivial pursuits like shopping, they should focus on building their careers.

To sum up, everyone has the right to spend their free time as they wish. However, in my opinion, spending idly time in shops can lead to huge consequences for both the individual and society, since it is a wasteful activity that does not bring any real benefit.
