Q.
Some people think it is a good thing for senior managers to have much higher salaries than the other workers in a company. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
There is a wide gap in the remuneration of people holding senior management positions and their subordinates/juniors. Some people consider this pay gap to be a positive thing and I completely agree with their point of view. This essay elaborates on the reasons behind my approach.
Moreover, top managers are the decision-makers who run the organization. They are always on the lookout for new ideas and implement those ideas to make the company profitable. They take the ownership of any work-related challenges and the responsibility for their actions. They are even at a higher risk of being fired if something goes wrong. When they are more responsible to customers and other employees, they have every right to earn more than other colleagues. Furthermore, the skills needed to make decisions are acquired with several years of experience and/or a management degree, both of which are the result of continued persistence and involve both time and money. Hence, it is the responsibility of the company to pay them accordingly.
In conclusion, it should be noted that salary/remuneration differences between senior managers and other employees act as an incentive for junior employees/entry level employees in the company. Since they make the decisions that run the company, their higher remuneration is fully justified.
