Q. The maps show the changes of Shalton village from 1910 to 2010.

The above two maps illustrate information about the differences between the village of Shalton in 1910 and 2010.

In 1910, a post office was opened on only one side of London Road. In addition, a large house surrounded by trees was located in the central part, and a cafe, a house, and a bakery were also constructed. After 100 years, 4 houses were erected next to the post office, whereas the big house and tree were flatten to build 5 new houses and a road. Furthermore, the bakery was replaced by a house in order to broaden the housing for the residents.

Moving further, throughout 100 years, on one side of School Road, the butchers and house were demolished to make room for a supermarket, parking lot and a bank. However, there was little difference when only 2 houses were built which were opposite the cafe on the High Street.

Overall, it is clear that a large number of houses were built on the right side of Shalton village, while a number of services were opened on one side of School Road.
