Q. Some people say that reading newspapers and watching Television news is a waste of time because it has nothing to do with people's lives. Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

A fair amount of individuals believe that reading newspapers and watching the news on Television is a loss of valuable time because it's not associated with our lives. In my opinion, I disagree that the news on papers or TV has nothing to do with people's lives and, therefore, they are not a waste of time.

A good reason why I believe that Television news and newspapers are directly related to our life, because they have several sections that directly affect our life. For instance, most newscast has an entire section dedicated to weather forecast predictions. Knowing what the weather is going to be tomorrow or one week ahead of time is vital for several people, as it affects their plans directly. As a result, many folks don't plan their trips or vacation before watching the weather news on TV. Moreover, newspapers are also associated with people's lives. For example, the financial section in the newspapers updates many readers about market prices. This is important for several stakeholders, especially those who work in the stock market.

Another point to consider is that most governments use these media to communicate with their citizens. In other words, states use print or visual media to inform the people about any policy changes or any new laws they must adhere to. To illustrate, when the Indian government slashed recently the funding that was allocated for libraries, many of us only learned about it from watching television news or reading newspapers. Hence, these types of media are crucial and they should not be considered unnecessary.

To conclude, Although some people think that they are looking for information on TV or reading newspapers is a waste of time, because they have no relation to their lives,  I believe that they are important and have a direct link to our lives.
