Q. Nowadays, anyone can post information on the internet, even if it is incorrect. As a result, mostly the information we read is inaccurate. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

The Internet has revolutionized our lives. It changed the way we communicate and explore. A fair amount of people think that, the Internet is a great communication tool, but it is not a reliable source of information. I quite agree with this view. However, the internet is not only an excellent communication tool but also a treasure trove of information.

The internet has given us access to a vast pool of knowledge. In fact, anyone who has access to a smartphone and an internet connection can now find information on just about any subject within a matter of seconds. This ease of obtaining information online has even made physical libraries redundant.

The main problem with finding information on the Internet is that we cannot always trust the source. The Internet allows everyone to be a writer and publisher. You can blog about any topic; you can post your opinion on any issue. Nobody will ask you whether you are qualified to do so. As a result, some of the information that we find online is not reliable. However, this does not mean that all the information on the internet is erroneous.

Although I admit that it is possible to get factually incorrect information on some lesser-known websites, blogs, and forums, the truth is that the vast majority of these unreliable sources do not show up in search results. When you do a Google search for a specific keyword, pop-up websites are reputable sites that do their research before publishing information online. Take, for example, the case of online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it, so we might think it will contain a lot of errors. On the contrary, Wikipedia does not contain any more errors than the celebrated Encyclopedia Britannica , because it employs editors and writers who want to provide their readers with the most reliable information.

In conclusion, I agree with the argument that the Internet is not a reliable source to find information. If we only link to reputable websites and blogs, we do not need to worry about the veracity of the information found.
