Writing Task 2 # Essay #

Q. Some people believe that residents are responsible for keeping the streets clean and tidy while other people say that it is the responsibility of the government. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is often argued that the state should take the responsibility for ensuring a healthy lifestyle for its citizens. However, others believe they are lying on the person in order to lead a healthy life without stress. I believe that this is a joint responsibility of the individual and the government, and in the course of my essay I will explain my point of view.

On the other hand, it is true that each person is responsible for their own life choices. A healthy body is a healthy mind. Therefore, it is our duty to eat right and lead an active lifestyle. No one can change our lifestyle for the better if we ourselves do not want to lead a healthy lifestyle. What a person eats, how much exercise, who does to lead a healthy life without stress is his own business. To illustrate this, most textbooks teach us about balanced healthy eating in science lessons. However, over time, much of this knowledge is put on the back burner when we are addicted to fast food. Likewise, statutory warnings such as "Smoking kills", "Alcohol is harmful to health" flare up when any such scene is shown on television. However, this does not deter people from these vices! Therefore, everyone must make healthy choices to ensure longevity and well-being.

Having said this, it is also true that government, as an administrative body, must take responsibility for maintaining the well-being of the population for a variety of reasons. First, improving the health of citizens ultimately leads to a decrease in the burden of disease and health care costs. This money can be used by the government for other lucrative purposes, such as building infrastructure. For example, the UK NHS cares about the country's health and it would be helpful if some of the costs could be reduced by a healthier society. Secondly, only the government has the right to seriously influence fast-food chains and restrict the sale of alcohol and tobacco. This will ensure less accessibility for people and therefore improve the health of the population. What's more, government-sponsored health awareness programs can help build a healthy future generation.

In conclusion, I believe that both the state and the individual must work hand in hand to ensure a healthy life without disease, because clapping takes both hands.
