Q. The government should pay the cost of the course to everyone who wants to study at the university. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

OR

Q. Some people believe that governments should pay full tuition fees for students who want to study at universities. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Express your opinion and examples.

One of the most debatable issues today concerns whether the cost of college tuition should be funded by the government, or individual pupils to finance their higher education. I totally agree with the idea of providing higher education at no cost. In this essay, I am going to throw some light on this essay and then give my opinion on this matter.

First and foremost, from a sociological point of view, free education promotes equality between rich and poor. In practice, everyone should have an equal opportunity to study despite their wealth. With a university degree, poor students are able to obtain better employment upon graduation. In this sense, university education can be seen as a harbinger of improved quality of life. Furthermore, without equal opportunity for college, people are discriminated not only by income level, but also by level of intelligence.

Secondly, an educated workforce has many benefits. From a financial point of view, a university graduate earns a higher salary than those who did not go to college. With higher wages, citizens are able to pay higher taxes. Initially, it may seem counter-intuitive for the government to provide free university education to all; Nevertheless, the government can actually collect a high amount of tax revenue in the long run.

Finally, although I acknowledge that there are many benefits of allowing university students to study for free, such a statement is simply not possible. It is unrealistic for governments, especially in developing countries, to pay tuition fees for all enrolled students.

To conclude, I believe that countries that can adopt such a policy should strongly embrace it. However, it is unlikely that all countries can take such practical steps.
