Q. The table and bar graph below shows time spent in leisure and household activities in the UK. To summarize information by selecting key characteristics and compiling a report and, if necessary, make a comparison.

The given horizontal bar graph and table compare how much time men and women spend on various household chores every day with recreational activities in the UK.

In terms of leisure activities, both genders spend almost the same amount of time on all three of these activities, with television, video and radio being the most popular and sports taking up the least amount of free time. About two hours a day are spent on television, video, and radio, and almost a third of an hour a day is spent reading. Men spend slightly more time on sports than women.

It is noticeable that, with the exception of repair work, women do more housework than men. On average, women spend about 75 minutes cooking and doing laundry, more than double the time men spend on the same activity. Shopping and laundry are the other two most important activities for housewives, taking up 35 and 30 minutes a day, respectively, whereas men are not ready to do these chores. Men spend approximately 19 minutes a day on maintenance work, which is surprisingly more than double the time spent by women on the same job.

Overall, it is clear that female work significantly more than men on household works like cooking, washing, shopping and ironing while men spend their majority of time on leisure activities.
