Q. The diagrams below illustrate the development of the cutting tools made by stone, one was made 1.4 million years ago and the other was made 800 thousand years ago.

The given diagram presents the cutting stone tools and how it was advanced, from 1.4 to 0.8 million years ago. It is clearly seen that the stone tool has been improved over the years, becoming sharper and better.

Comparing the two instruments, front view, the one made 1.4 million years ago is slightly narrower and less well defined. The later one reaches a sharper point with clearly rounded sides.

The side view shows that the older tool is also bulkier with more jagged notches than the much smoother tool from 800 thousand years ago. Finally, in terms of the rear view, there is a clear contrast as the new one has fewer major cracks and accurately reflects its front side. On the other hand, the older tool is about half the size and heavily chipped at the back.

Overall, it can be seen that over the years this tool has been improved to a more perfect and thin cutting tool.
