Q. The table below shows the population of three cities in 1990, the population forecast for 2000 and the actual of 2000.

The table illustrates information about the actual number of residents in three different cities, in 1990 and 2000 ,as well as the estimated population for 2000.

In 1990, Sao Paulo had the largest recorded population of 15 million, followed by Shanghai and Jakarta with 13.5 million and 9.5 million respectively. Although Sao Paulo's population was projected to reach 24 million by the year 2000, it has only risen to 18 million. Similarly, Jakarta's population increased by 2 million in 2000 to 11.5 million, about 2.5 million less than forecast.

Shanghai had 13.5 million people in 1990 and was expected to experience a significant increase in population over the next decade. However, in reality, it fell to 12.5 million instead of the expected increase of 17 million.

Overall, while the population of Sao Paulo and Jakarta increased in the given period of tenure, the population of Shanghai decreased. Sao Paulo, meanwhile, remained the most populous city in the indicated period.
