Q. The table and pie charts give information about the total value and source of fish imported to the United States between 1988 and 2000.

The table shows the total value of fish imported by the United States and three pie charts illustrate the percentage of fish imported into the United States from three different regions in 1988, 1992 and 2000.

The cost of imported fish in the US has risen significantly over a 12-year period. Starting from $6.57 billion in 1988, this value increased significantly to $8.52 billion in 1992. In the following 8 years, the total value of fish imported by this country also increased by $2.2 million.

In terms of pie charts, Canada imported the vast majority of fish in 1988, followed by other countries and China at 13 and 27 percent, respectively. However, Canada's share of fish exports dropped markedly to 34 percent in 1992 and 28 percent in 2000, while other countries emerged as the dominant source of fish exports at 42 percent and China came in second at 30 percent in the last year.

Overall, it is evident that the total value of imported fish rose by just over double the value throughout the given period. In addition, in 1988 Canada was the main supplier of imported fish, but by the last year it had been overtaken by other countries.
