Q. Some people argue that arts, such as paintings and music are a waste of money and the government should spend this money on other public services. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is argued that investing in art and music is a waste of resources, and the authorities should spend this money on public sectors. I don't quite agree with this view. In my opinion, officials should allocate appropriate funding for both services.

To begin with, there are certainly enough reasons why people want the government to spend more money on public services. First of all, it improves the quality of life. For instance, when funds are used to build colleges and universities, it will help people get an education and a employment opportunities. An educated citizen is the greatest asset of any nation and therefore, in my opinion, providing the best educational facilities should be a priority for any national government. Last but not least, with sufficient funding, authorities can support other sectors such as healthcare, transport and infrastructure. All of these are important for the development of a nation and requires sufficient funding.

On the other hand, there are many benefits if officials support the arts. The merits of preserving music and theater is that it will help us preserve our national identity. As we all know, art and culture are intertwined, so by allocating some funds to the arts, we can preserve our cultural uniqueness. Moreover, if the authorities stop supporting music and theater, they will suffer big losses in terms of tourism. Most tourists come to a country to experience its culture, and if travelers don't find anything unusual about the culture, they are less likely to return.

To conclude, the government should take a balanced approach by supporting both public services and the arts, because both are important to the prosperity of the country.
