Q.  The bar chart shows the percentage of the total world population in four countries in 1950, 2002, and predictions for 2050.

The vertical bar graph illustrates the lowest and highest levels of Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) and Dinitrous Oxide (NO2), two air pollutants, in four cities, namely Los Angeles, Calcutta, Beijing and Mexico in 2000.

On analysing the data, the level of sulfur dioxide in the air in Los Angeles ranges from 1 to 10, which is significantly lower than in other cities. The presence of the air pollutant ranges from 80 to 200 in Mexico, which is the maximum. The minimum SO2 level is 47 in Calcutta and 25 in Beijing, but the maximum range reaches 130 in Beijing, which is more than twice as high as in Calcutta city.

On the other hand, the presence of a second air pollutant, Dinitrous oxide, was, on average, more common in the air in Mexico City than in any other city shown in the illustration. The minimum Dinitrous oxide level in Mexico was 113, which is almost ten times higher than in Beijing and about four times higher than in Calcutta and Los Angeles. The maximum level of Dinitrous oxide in Los Angeles was higher than the presence of N2O in Kolkata and Beijing.

Overall, the average levels of these two air pollutants were much higher in Mexico than in the other three cities. The higher levels of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide in Mexico show that the air pollution in this city is worse than in the other three cities.
