Q. Governments should spend more money on medical research and less on environmental research. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, each country is investing a substantial amount in research and development. Opinions were divided as to whether the state budget should be allocated primarily to medical experiments rather than environmental research. While many may argue that medical research should take precedence over climate change, I disagree. According to me, a deeper understanding of our temperature could be really helpful and could even help advance medicine.

To commence with, it is now well known that human activities are adversely affecting the world climate, due to which, in recent times, there has been an increase in natural calamities such as droughts, floods, cyclones etc. There are many more news, coming from all over the world. For instance, a few months ago there was a wildfire in Australia, and a few months before that we learned about a forest fire in the Amazon. Therefore, we need to study our climate and figure out how we can reverse the changes, which will help to stabilize the entire system.

Furthermore, if we do not investigate our environment, we will not be able to discover new elements or biological bodies in our situation. Based on these studies, new medical discoveries or new drugs may also be invented. To illustrate, the leaves of many plants can cure even the most severe diseases. Thus, it is also necessary that we invest in the study of our nature.

In conclusion, while medical research is of paramount importance, we must not forget our situation, because in times of pandemics and new viruses, there is no doubt that Mother Nature holds many more secrets to be discovered. This is why, in my opinion, more attention should be paid to ecological research, as it can also help us perform medical miracles.
