Q. Crimes and other forms of information on television and in newspaper have adverse consequences. This kind of information should be limited to display in the media. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Crime rates are rising at an alarming rate in all parts of the world. And its broadcast on television and in the newspapers had a detrimental effect on the psychology of the common man. Here, some people are suggesting that such disturbing crime-related news should not be telecasted on any public platform. I definitely agree with this opinion, for the mental well-being of citizens, some rules and restrictions should be imposed on the broadcast media.

To commence with, some hideous crime news, like rape or murder, affects any person mentally. When a person watches the live telecast of these crimes, they are horrified with some disturbing images or scenes. Moreover, it is very disastrous for children to see such news on television or in newspapers. Because such news at an early age can make them feel insecure and the innocence of the child may be lost. In fact, some children are so affected that they themselves become involved in some criminal activity like bullying. Therefore, broadcasting of news should be regularized for the mental happiness of the nation.

On the other hand, crime news is also important for our overall awareness and timely updates. It is only through such media that people learn in a matter of seconds what is happening around them and in the world. They are considered a reliable source for any information. For instance, the world only learned about the horrific terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York through news channels and newspapers, which eventually allowed other countries to lend a helping hand to the United States of America. Thus, the restriction of television broadcasting can lead to a decrease or complete absence of information about the world in real time.

To recapitulate, despite the benefits of receiving world or local news updates, I feel that the media should change their broadcasting methods in a way that does not interfere with the psychology of the nation and at the same time informs the audience about wrongdoing.
