Q. Demand for gas and oil is increasing and so finding new sources in remote and untouched areas is a necessity. Do the advantage of this is outweigh the disadvantages?

There is a worldwide trend towards the use of advanced technological equipment and machines that require hydrocarbon compounds to operate. However, this has led to a search for other substitutes for these products due to increased demand for both crude oil and natural gas. This essay will discuss the reason why the merits outweigh the demerits.

To commence with, the search for new sources of carbon-containing substances in new areas is necessary to meet global needs. The main benefit of this process is that it will help generate more revenue to boost the economy. To illustrate, recently some African countries have been able to discover fossils in new locations. However, the new development provided employment opportunities and increased their gross domestic product. Thus, it was possible to reduce the gap between supply and demand.

On the other hand, one of the major drawbacks was that most workers were exposed to workplace hazards that could either be related to the tools they used or environmental factors. For instance, recently in Nigeria, several people were attacked by bandits while reconnaissance, while others were injured by the tools they were using. Also, the soil will be subject to a lot of destruction during this time due to the large drilling rigs used on the ground. Conversely, if nothing is found, it will take a lot of money to fix the place to prevent drought as well as flooding.

To conclude, funds can be obtained from fuel production. Despite the negative consequences, in the long run the benefits still outweigh the impact on the environment. Finally, in my opinion, it is necessary to look for new sources of oil.
