Q. Some children spend hours every day on their computers, tablets, and smartphones and many spend a large part of free time using these devices. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this situation and give your own opinion.
It is true that the growth of spending time with children on computers and technological devices had brought a lot of drawbacks to both their health and acceptable behaviour. While there are some essential positive consequences of their usage, I would argue that these are outweighed by the disadvantages.
On the one hand, there are some aspects of using computer devices in leisure time. Principally, accessing computers for educational purposes raises cause for efficiency. In terms of education in early childhood, teaching by computers and other devices can support the future tech career of children. For instance, there is more opportunity of becoming successful in the technological industry for people who have gained STEM knowledge, computer science and some beneficial hard skills. In addition, social media platforms which are computer-based technology provide the possibility to actively communicate with each other to them. It assists their communication skills.
On the other hand, despite such benefits, these are not acceptable enough and must be considered against the disadvantage of children's computer usage. To begin with, technological advancements can be harmful to human health. For example, nowadays there is increasing in obesity and mental aberrations which are caused by the over-using of screens among the young generation. Moreover, computer games affect their behaviour negatively. According to psychological research, children who play violent games lose their passion and become easy to get depressed.
In
conclusion, I think the disadvantages of young people spending their spare time with smart technologies outweigh the benefits. After a thorough analysis of this issue, it is predicted that the negative effects of technology adoption will always outweigh the positive effects.
