Q.  The line graph shows the percentage of New Zealand population from 1950 to 2050.

The given line chart illustrates past changes and future predictions of the New Zealand population over a 100-year period from 1950 to 2050.

From 1950 to 1990, the proportion of people aged 38 to 45 and those aged 65 and over both increased from around 25% to 50%, and 60% to 70% of the population respectively. Both these age groups then started to decline and are predicted to continue declining until 2050 to reach approximately 40% and 55% respectively.

The graph shows the opposite trend for the remaining age groups with people aged 25 to 37 making up about 20% of the population and people under the age of 14 making up about 5%. By 2050, it is predicted that people aged 14 and under will account for 20% of the population, while those aged 25 to 37 will make up a much smaller percentage.

Overall, people aged 65 and over are predicted to account for the highest percentage of New Zealand's population over the entire period, including future data. In addition, while figures for those aged 25 to 37 and those aged over 65 are predicted to decline over the 100-year period, those aged under 14 and aged 38 to 45 are expected to increase.
