Q. More and more people today are drinking sugar-based drinks. What are the reasons for this? What are the solutions?

In recent times, the consumption of sugar-based drinks have increased drastically by the people, which might deter their health. This essay will discuss the potential causes of the above notion, along with the remedies to curb it.

To inaugurate with, the reasons for the high consumption of sugar-based drinks are their attractive advertising with the preferred test and the modern lifestyle of people that encourages them. Currently, in a highly competitive environment, soft drink manufacturers are promoting their products with the face of famous celebrities; as a result, many young people are attracted to such unhealthy drinks. In addition, drinks are made up of sugar as the main component, which ensures good taste and the people get the affection to such products. To illustrate, the Indian Cricket Team promotes a sugar-based drink called Coca Cola, so many cricket fans have used the product to imitate their favorite team. Moreover, today's fast-paced lifestyle provokes people to consume more junk food and beverages, which deteriorate their health.

On the other hand, by taking a few preventive measures, one can reduce the habit of drinking such unhealthy drinks. Firstly, people must develop the habit of reading the entire contents of the soft drinks they are about to consume. Although all soft drinks do not contain excessive amounts of sugar, they should choose such alternative products. Secondly, parents should teach their children not to imitate everything that is shown on Television and newspaper advertisements, and educate them about the potential downsides of such products. Lastly, the government should conduct healthy diet awareness campaigns throughout the country. For instance, the Fit India campaign has attracted many citizens to healthy eating.

To sum up, people's habit of drinking sugar-based beverages may not be changing rapidly. But the preventive efforts of an individual and the local authority will gradually bring a positive change in the society.
