Q. Some people claim that public museums and art galleries will not be needed because people can see historical objects and works of art by using a computer. Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There are some people argue that public museums and art galleries are no longer needed as people can find historical artifacts and art on the internet. Personally, I completely disagree with this statement because of the following arguments.

First of all, the point to be noted here is that the historical objects and paintings that can be viewed on a computer cannot provide the real experience to the public, as they are just in digital format without details. For instance, if people come to an exhibition, they can not only observe all the special aspects of a work of art, but also appreciate and understand the message the author wants to convey to the audience. Furthermore, information on the Internet about historical objects and artistic works is sometimes inaccurate such as some paintings having the wrong name or artist, creating a real loss of human beings' knowledge. To avoid the situation, the effective way is for people to visit museums or galleries, as these destinations will provide them with the most reliable sources.

Moreover, these places create a serene atmosphere that helps one escape from the pressures of life. To clarify, enjoying art is a form of entertainment as people can refresh their mind in a peaceful environment. Finally, museums and art exhibitions can be used to provide education. To illustrate, they are friendly areas for students to come and find essential facts, which are not present on the internet, for their assignments. Take the War Memorial in the city of Delhi as an example. Lots of history lovers and historians visit this museum to research about the war. Some of them say that they are able to understand the impact it brought on Indians as well as the hardships they faced during this period through many actual specimens, documents, and exhibits which cannot be found on the internet.

To conclude, I believe that due to the benefits that public museums and art galleries offer, they are unlikely to suffer from extinction in the future.
