Q. In many countries, prison is the most common solution for crimes. However, many people think that better education is the most effective way for people to prevent further crimes. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In many nations around the world, criminals are sentenced to a fixed term of imprisonment, depending on the severity of the crime they committed. Despite this, many people believe that re-crime can be prevented by providing proper training for offenders, and this is the most effective solution. I completely disagree with this statement, as I believe that legal illiteracy is not the cause of most crimes. The reasons for my point of view will be outlined in this essay before coming to a conclusion.

The most compelling reason why I hold my point is that most of the criminals caught recently are highly educated. These people are already well aware of the seriousness of the offense and the associated punishment. However, they continue to engage in such punishable criminal offenses and fall into the trap of law enforcement. For example, a police statement said the recent bank robbery in Kerala, India was carried out by a group of engineers who knew about the consequences of the crime and its impact on society.

Another reason for my position is that some crimes are unacceptable by law. Those who commit serious crimes that pose a threat to society deserve imprisonment. In addition, some extreme criminals involved in terrorism or premeditated murder should be sentenced to death as they pose a threat to the nation. Moreover, almost every educational system in the world has a curriculum that teaches the core values ​​needed for a good citizen. Thus, giving education after commit a crime does not actually change the mentality of offenders, and they continue to commit illegal acts because they know what they are doing.

In conclusion, I totally disagree with the view that educating criminals is the right solution to keep them from committing new crimes. This is because offenders are already aware of the consequences of breaking the law, which they have acquired through their basic education. In addition, serious criminals must be eliminated or isolated from society so that everyone has a safe place to live in the country.
